Way back, when the state of the art in computer graphics was 280x192 in 8 colors, and no such thing as CGI effects existed, Jim Henson made a beautiful classic little fantasy film called, "The Dark Crystal." Long before the movie was released to theatres in the US and UK, it was provided to test audiences for reactions. The surveys taken at the showings, guide the filmmakers and producers in how to tweak and make final edits to the film. I GOT TO SEE IT THIS WAY!
As a kid, I was overjoyed with this, it was better than ANYTHING else provided for kids at the time (I still LOVE this film!). Jim Henson was a GOD!
Unfortunately, the test audience comprised a large number of mundanes and the dramatic challenged, people better suited to be couch-potatos, not theatre-goers. It was rumored that kids ran from the theatre... I don't remember that, I think idiot parents were horrified, maybe because there were no humans in it?!?
When the movie was finally released to theatres, I got a shock, when what I had been waiting to see again was chopped up, and dumbed down. It was great to finally see most of the special effects, but the film became hobbled, and the benefit of paying attention to get all the details was destroyed by having everything explained plainly or tossed in your face. These variations may not seem that big, but they were very noticeable to me... and I had waited so long to see this film again.
Then I attended The Answer, "The Rat Stuff!," a.k.a. the 42nd WorldCon in Los Angeles. There I found a large number of fans of the film, most who were twice my age at the time, and one of them knew a person who knew another person.... And so after waiting several more weeks, I received this precious little videotape in the mail. It was a copy of a workprint of the film, used to review different background music soundtracks to the film (anybody remember "Legend" where it was released in the UK with a Jerry Goldsmith soundtrack, and in the US with Tangerine Dream?). The first two were Trevor Jones (the actual choice, a strikingly beautiful OST, like all his work) and Vangelis. Unfotunately the VHS tape was not long enough for more than 15 minutes of the Vangelis material.
So, after my last move, I dove into my 3000 tape VHS collection and fished out that old tape, and encoded it. Hopefully you will enjoy it, if not as a curiosity, an example of what minor things can be done to a film by others, a better version, or at least a view of what is, effectively, the directors cut of the movie.
Some things to be aware of before you watch this:
1. It is a WORK-PRINT, it was never intended to be anything but a quick hack together by the editors to test things like timing, edit points, level corrections, etc.
2. This is in black & white. My assumption is that they used monochrome stock because it was cheaper to deal with and it was not at the stage for color work.
3. As a work-print, edits, cuts, and notes are actually marked on the film with both grease-pencil and marker. You will see a lot of this. As an edit test, light levels also were not a concern, and therefore black and white levels vary considerably from one scene to another. This made it impossible for me to do any correction work. A filter might clean up one scene but completely destroy the next.
4. The film stock was actually handled by a very large number of people, and ended up picking up lots of dirt. Again having a dirty print did not matter for this work print, image clarity was not important.
5. The work print was transferred first to professional videotape, each of the small spools of film were transferred, so between each of the nearly dozen small spools of film, there was a hard analog videotape break, with all the expected audio and video noise. I edited most of these out, and that was nearly 3 minutes of hashing and breakups.
6. That tape was then transferred to VHS from which my copy of the tape was made. Unfortunately, this was a long time ago and image stabilization was not yet a large part of the electronics of the consumer VHS market. Therefore, any time there was a little jump or a little noise in the original tape, the machine could not maintain the image and it often lost a lock on the image. Noise on the original tape made for chaos on the copies, and this is most apparent during the Skesis' banquet segment.
7. Many of the special effects, and things like the titles and credits, were not present at this stage of work, so odd things tend to show up in places. Characters appearing on black or grey backgrounds (greenscreen), only a small area of the screen is used because a matte would be added later, seeing a bit of the English countryside in a shot, or seeing an oddly shaped object ascending on a rope in place of the special effect of the Ur-skeks ascension... A few of the voices are even a little different (or missing).
Of the things you will notice in variance from the released film are the cutting of several scenes (notably a close-up of naked Jen, and the Skesis funeral), re-arrangement of some of the scenes (mostly from the start of the film), trimming of some scenes (Podling villager festival), the addition of voice-overs (lord was that distracting), added narration, and a complete re-dub of all the non-English languages.
In the test version, English represented the Gelfling tongue -- you should hear only English when Gelfling is spoken... Every other race had it's own language, but the final film changed that, and you really have to look hard to see that all the races did not speak the same language. I must have been an odd child, because I didn't have any problem understanding the gist of what was being said, when the characters didn't speak English. I find that touch added quite a lot to the proper feel of the film.
This encode is the best balance of file-size versus quality I could get from the source. If anybody wants to try enhancing this, feel free, but it's probably not worth it.
Since there was probably only one copy of the test audience print (35mm clean color version of this), and no sign of this version of the film on any of the seven releases (soon to be eight) of the film to the consumer market, I am guessing that this may be the only surviving version of the film in this form.  I hope it isn't, because I would love to see this in HQ color.

Max Payne 1 & 2 (The Collector's Edition) PC
Max Payne, a cop in the NYPD, returns home one day to find his wife and baby daughter murdered at the hands of drug addicts, high on a designer drug called Valkyr. After 3 years of working on the case, Max and his best friend Alex go undercover to bust a V-deal. However, things go wrong: Alex is suddenly killed, and Max is framed for his murder. Hunted by the cops and driven by determination to avenge his family, Max Payne sets out to uncover the truths behind his family's murder.
Installation Guide
1. Install Daemon-Tools or MagicDisc <---<(recommended for beginners) to open/install the "Image" file(s).

2. When the game has been installed, install the Patches first.
3. Go to the " Crack & Patch " folder and copy the crack file.
4. Go to the Max Payne destinated folder you installed. Example: "My Computer" - "Program Files" - Max Payne / Rockstar Games or something like that.
5. Replace the original " MaxPayne / MaxPayne2 " file with the crack.
6. Play the game. (If it has been done right or if it works though).
NB!: "Max Payne 2" can be played from the third disc (called "Play" Disc) or be cracked. To be sure you should burn the game to a CD and then play or else you will have messages like "Cannot Open Disc" or something from the Virtual CD/DVD-ROM where you have mounted the game.
So it is up to you which way you want to play it.
You can also burn both games on a disc and use the disc when the game ask for it.
MaxPayne 1 Gameplay
The prime emphasis of the series is on shooting. Almost all of the gameplay involves using bullettime to gun down foe after foe. Levels are generally straightforward, with almost no key-hunting. However, some levels do incorporate platforming elements and puzzle solving. Ammo is in virtually constant supply, as all enemies drop some ammo when killed.
The game's A.I. is heavily dependent on pre-scripted commands. Most of the apparently intelligent behavior exhibited by enemies, such as taking cover behind obstacles, retreating from the player, or throwing grenades, is pre-scripted. Thus, when replaying a level, enemies perform exactly the same behaviors each time. Enemies who dodge and roll are typically the Mercenaries (operatives in black ski-masks), Aesir Security Guards, and Killer Suits (henchmen wearing business suits and sunglasses).
Higher difficulty levels are extremely challenging; the "Dead on Arrival" level limits the player to 7 saves per chapter, and the "New York Minute" level forces the player to complete each chapter before the allotted time — replenished by killing enemies — is exhausted. Upon completing the game on "Dead on Arrival", Max is transported to the "Final Battle", where the player then fights in perpetual bulletime against 20 Killer Suits — each armed with the Pancor Jackhammer automatic shotgun. Upon completion of this task, the player can view a secret room with various photographs of New York locations used by the developer, Remedy, as well as a picture of the development team.
On the highest difficulty setting, Max is (from a game perspective) extremely fragile and dies after suffering only 5 pistol bullets, 3 assault rifle bullets, or 1 accurate shotgun blast. Most enemies have more endurance than the player character, with later enemies being able to survive 2 or 3 times as much damage as Max. The player can heal Max by consuming "painkillers", which the player collects and carries, until he/she decides to use them.
Bullet time
The game play of Max Payne revolves heavily around bullet time. When triggered, bullet time slows down the passage of time to such an extent that the movements of bullets can be seen by the naked eye — it is a form of slow motion. The player, although his movement is also slowed, is still able to aim and react in real time, providing a unique advantage over enemies. This makes avoiding being shot easier and enables Max to perform special moves, such as shoot dodges where Max leaps sideways through the air while continuing to fire his weapon.
Occasionally, when the last character of a group is killed, the viewpoint switches to a third-person view of his falling body with the camera circling around it.
Max Payne the character
For Max Payne, the title character was modeled after Sam Lake, the writer of Max Payne. It is often joked that Max had a constipated expression with his uncomfortable half grin/sneer; this joke is even mentioned in the sequel. For Max Payne 2, however, Lake declined the honor, and after extensive casting, Remedy chose the actor Timothy Gibbs to be the model for Max Payne. Actor James McCaffrey provided the voice of Max Payne in both games.
Plot
The story begins with Max Payne, a New York City police officer, returning home to find that several drug junkies high on a new drug called Valkyr have broken into his house. Max rushes to the aid of his family, but he is too late; his wife and newborn daughter have been murdered. After his family's funeral, he transfers to the DEA.
Three years later, he is an undercover operative inside the Punchinello Mafia family, who is responsible for the trafficking of Valkyr. B.B. Hensley, a colleague in the DEA, gives Max a message asking him to meet Alex Balder, another DEA agent and a good friend of Max's, in the Roscoe Street subway station. When Max arrives at the subway, Alex is shot by an unknown assassin. As a result, the police consider Max the prime suspect in Alex’s death. Additionally, the Punchinello family finds out that he is a cop and wants him dead.
Max goes after Jack Lupino, who oversees Valkyr distribution for the Punchinello family. After gunning him down, he meets Mona Sax, a hired killer, who laces his drink with a sedative and leaves him to be found by the Mafia, who proceed to interrogate him.
Max escapes the Mafia and gains access to a shipment of guns belonging to the Russian mob after killing one of their traitors. Max uses these weapons to infiltrate the house of Don Punchinello, the head of the Mafia. Max discovers that the Don is only a puppet in the Valkyr market when the Don is killed by agents of Nicole Horne, CEO of Aesir Corp, in front of Max. Horne herself then injects Max with an overdose of Valkyr and leaves him for dead.
When he awakens, he pursues his only lead, Horne's last words, “Take me to Cold Steel”, heard just before he passed out. It leads him to a foundry with an old military bunker under it. He discovers that Valkyr was the result of a military project to improve its soldiers’ stamina and morale; the project was halted shortly after it began due to lackluster results. He also discovers that his wife accidentally found out about the project while working at the District Attorney’s office, so Horne let Valkyr junkies loose in Max's house.
After leaving the bunker, Max gets a call from B.B., who asks Max to meet with him at a garage lot. There, Max realizes that B.B. was the one who shot Alex, framing Max for his murder. A huge running gun-fight begins with Max giving chase through the garage lot. After killing B.B., Max gets a phone call from a man named Alfred Woden asking him to come to the Asgard building. Alfred is part of a secret society called the "Inner Circle". Woden informs Max about who Nicole Horne is and says the Inner Circle cannot pursue Horne because "their hands are tied." They ask Max to kill Horne in exchange for ensuring that any criminal charges against him are dropped. After the meeting, the room is stormed by Horne's agents. They kill every person in the room except for Max, who manages to escape, and Woden, who pretends to be shot.
Max enters the Aesir Corp. main office, where Horne is located. As he makes his way past security guards and mercenaries, he runs into Mona Sax again. She is shot by mercenaries after refusing to shoot Max. Max confronts Nicole and states that this whole thing started after Max's wife found out about the Valkyr project. Horne runs to the roof of the building, boarding a helicopter. Racing up to the roof, Max shoots the guy wires of the building's antenna; the Antenna snaps off the roof and comes crashing down on the helicopter.
The NYPD arrive at the scene, arresting Max. As Max is being led out of the building by the SWAT team, he sees Alfred Woden. Knowing that Woden will ensure his safe passage through the judicial system, Max smiles genuinely.
MaxPayne 2 Gameplay
The game play starts in medias res with Max heavily wounded in a hospital.
Max has been developed into a more durable character. Contrastingly, enemies tend to be weaker, with the exception being two bosses. This change has given the game a more arcade "run and gun" feel instead of slower careful pace of the original. However, when the game is finished for the first time, harder difficulties are available to be played, adding replay value.
Most of this game is seen through the eyes of Max. An additional feature focuses on following Mona Sax.
The second game again revolves around the bullet time, but the concept is more worked out. When Max shoots his enemies, his slow motion bar becomes a pale yellow. The darker the yellow, the slower time flows, with the exception of Max, who is in "normal" slow motion.
The A.I. is improved, and enemies will team up, or stay behind a door, waiting for you to jump through. If a grenade is thrown, the enemies will run away rather than stand around and wait for it to explode. Head shots now instantly kill an enemy, making the Desert Eagle a more effective weapon. As it is, the Desert Eagle can now be dual-wielded, when previously it could not.
Max's arsenal is also expanded. Some of the weapons from the predecessor are removed as new ones are added. A secondary weapon menu is also added, giving the player the option to use a melee attack, grenades, or Molotov cocktails in addition to their firearm. In the predecessor, grenades and Molotov cocktails were primary weapons, making them more dangerous and less effective for use. However, the addition of a secondary weapon option made these more viable choices.

Slightly improved over my previous release "XP pre SP4".
In creation of this OS, new methods (HFSLIP etc) are implemented instead of Nlite.
Now Windows structure is more stable and optimized
Now with:
- Fully updated with more updates on less space-only one CD (including latest MS security updates from December 200
- REPAIR Function fully functional (can repair this or other Windows XP)
- It can update/upgrade existing Windows XP, as well as clean install, on any partition...
- Masstorage drivers for SATA/RAID support (integrated widely used drivers as much as I could found )
- Validated, can freely go to update on Microsoft with integrated latest WGA/OGA
- Patched for incresed numer of connections
- UxTheme patched (One VisualStyle is integrated with few nice Winter Wallpapers, for those that don't like usual
Win XP look)
- System-ready for (HD) Audio driver install (missing in original Windows XP SP3)
- Extended Control Panel with new functions
No other drivers are integrated, must install sound, graphics, from own sources
(in some cases it is healthier for the machine)
Windows Setup is not as usual unattended, but is like in original Windows (see pictures), i.e must agree with terms, must enter Serial number...
License Agreement about XP SP3 (not XP SP2)
BEFORE STARTING WINDOWS SETUP DON'T FORGET TO WRITE DOWN ANY OF THE ALTERNATIVE
SERIAL NUMBERS FROM FILE "Serial.txt" ON THE ROOT OF THIS ISO (OR BURNED CD).
WILL NEED THEM TO TYPE DURING SETUP.
Everything is like in original Windows. But, don't worry, this OS is activated and fully updated.

Env = 1.4.9.1 - 2.0.50727.1433.Microsoft Windows NT 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3
Size: 1.06 GB (1,144,256,512 bytes)
It is called pre-SP4 due to the large number of post SP3 hotfixes issued by Microsoft up to date.
It isn't connected with eventual SP4 release by Microsoft.
This is clean, regular Windows XP Professional SP3 - 5.1.2600.5512 fully updated up to 14 November 2008
Semi-Unattended, must enter username, time zone etc. Serial is not asked.
Nothing is removed! Windows Core is untouched - only upgraded.
Can use possibilities for repair option, update on MSoft or implement MUI Packs.
No additional Drivers are integrated. Setup is using native XP drivers (It is SATA/RAID
compatible as regular Windows XP SP3).
No registry or inf tweaks are implemented.
No Applications/Programs added, only hotfixes and codecs necessary for proper functioning.
